Update on Ananya

Ananya is growing so fast and now we are in the terrible two's phase!. She screams like hell and wants her way in everything. She seemed to have gotten worse after the holiday . She seemed to cling more after I had stayed with her all day long during the hols.
One good thing is she is potty trained !!! yay! at 2yrs and 2 mths. We are so proud of her. She got a worst of stomach bug that made her thin and she seems to hate spicy food now. Weird. We stopped her bottle couple of weeks ago, so that she will eat more solid but now she doesn't want to drink milk at all. It is so cute to see her say that "kaaka bottle thookittu pochu", "ananya bottle la kondu vaa kaaaka". She still loves her puzzles.

Arun on the other hand, he seemed to eat better now a days, I hope this trend continues even after my parents leave. Cross my fingers.

Thanksgiving 2007

This year was special because I had my parents with me and also we celebrated(kind of)Thanksgiving by making pumpkin pie , mashed potatoes and the usual south indian meal. Pumpkin was a hit with Arun, he loved it and ate most of it!
What a bliss to have them around. I am already terrified of how am I going to manage without them after they leave in Feb! Ananya is becoming more and more adamant each day. Poor Arun , he gets the advice all the time saying ananya is young and she doesn't know better. I feel like I should give Arun a break and start being fair to him . Ananya acts, yells, imitates everything Arun does. It is cute most of the times, but sometimes they drive us crazy with their high pitched war cries! Ananya has started talking in tamil very well within couple of weeks of my parents arrival. She also seems to understand when arun talks to her in english too. Her favorite play thing right now are puzzles, Thomas the tank engine and marbles. Ananya might also get fully potty trained soon, she is ready. Hopefully she will be trained by the time my parents leave!

Golu 2007

This year's Golu was much more interesting b'cos 1)Ananya has grown up 2) Atleast 5 people had agreed to visit our Golu this year. Took the day off and did all the shopping needed for the Golu in the morning , came back home and set up the "padi" for the golu and I was done by the time Arun came from school. Both the kids were surprised to the golu set up already and were very very good .Thank God.

Little Terror

Ananya is going to be 2 this sunday ! I can't believe my baby is growing so fast. She is definetly not the same as Arun. She is Miss I_know_what_ I_am _doing girl. Yesterday she was throwing stuff here and there and I was yelling at her "Don't throw stuff, put it back in it's place"! If it had been my son , he would have known he is trouble and he would do what's asked quietly but you know what Ananya did ? She said "Quiet" to me!
At first I didn't get it, then I again yelled at her for something and she said "Quiet" with her no nonsense look. It was hilarious to see and if i raise my hand to give her a little smack, she smacks me back and screams as if to say don't you dare! God please have mercy !

Swim Time

Yesterday weather was so hot and muggy that we were looking forward to go to the
YMCA outdoor pool area with it's slides and fun sprinklers and such for the kids.
Our friend M , his wife F(and our babysitter)and their kid H was also supposed to join us.So when I left work to pick up my kid from our friends place ,they were all ready in their swimsuits, i grabbed my swimsuit that i had packed already and changed quickly and F being a nice person had cooked some home grown vegetable side dish so that when we are done swimming , we would go to my home and have dinner there. Since older my son was already at the Y for his camp , we picked him from the aftercare and didn't waste time to get in the water. It was awesome, such a great day to be in the water, later my husband P also joined us at the pool and had lots of fun. After hour and half we were quite tired and also hungry, we decided to get back home. We had the best dinner ever with variety of stuff to eat from rice,paruppu podi, rasam, kootu , ennai kathirikkai and cabbage poriyal. We finished off the meal with Orange cream popsicle with vanilla cream inside.

Aachi remembered

Yesterday I took Arun and Ananya to a very very beautiful park with lots of trees. Even in a 90 degree weather , you can't feel the heat. Daddy was busy at home trying to fix the new ceiling fan to the family room, I think he thanked me in his mind as I left with the kids to the park. It is no fun trying to fix the fan with 2 kids running around and picking up all the dangerous tools. They had a great time at the park and since there was an indian store near by, I decided to give it a look and and buy some snacks(just got a dozen, the previous day from another store!). Just as I was trying to get Ananya's seat belt off , she started saying "Aachi(my mom) Aachi" , I am like "Yeah
did we come here with Aachi when she was here?" But i know this store wasn't open when they were here almost 8 mth ago. Then as I locked the car door, i saw a lady wearing saree with long hair almost(South Indian look) looked like my mom standing near the next car! I was amazed that she still remembers her Aachi so well. I really miss having mom and dad around. I hope they can come here as soon as possible.

How kids think!

Yesterday we were watching some sappy Tamil movie that was showing in the SunTv. In the movie the guy and the girl have an argument and she leaves for her mom's home within a week of marriage. Arun asked me "Amma why is the girl going to a different home? ". I said "They are mad at each other , so she doesn't want to stay here".Anyway as we were watching I asked him "so Arun what if Amma and Appa got mad at each other and want to go live in a diff house , whom will you go with(i know it is stupid to ask a 6 yrs old, but i did!)?. He thought for a sec and said He will go and ask around the people in the whole neighborhood whether he can live with them and if they yes , he will live with them!. I was shocked that he didn't say he will stay either me or my husband, obviously in his little mind ,he thought we will leave the kids in the street and go on about our life! It was amazing that how he could think and how he took it very easily, maybe b'cos he didn't realize the whole situation I guess. But in the end i told him we will never leave each other and we will take care of you always.
